a quick programming note

So, in May I wrote this post about giorgoba, or St. George’s Day. That was all true information. I’m not a liar (…usually). But since I’ve noticed some recent visitors to this blog (hello visitors!) have been directed here thanks to “giorgoba” Google searches, I wanted to clarify something.

Yes, giorgoba is on May 6. But today, November 23, is also giorgoba. St. George gets two holidays in these parts. Today’s giorgoba celebrates his birthday, while giorgoba in May recognizes his death/torture.

So there you have it. In Georgia we celebrate St. George’s Day twice a year.

გილოცავთ გიორგობას! Happy St. George’s Day!
